Professional services giant Ernst & Young named its UK and Ireland tax practice head Jeff Soar to replace Cornelius Grossman as the new leader of its global law practice.
Based in Berlin, Grossman is retiring later this month after 14 years at the firm and over 10 years leading its law practice.
Soar, who has been with EY for over 20 years, was previously its global insurance tax leader and UK financial services tax leader. He takes over the law practice, which has over 3,500 legal professionals worldwide, months after EY had to abandon a plan to split its consulting and auditing wings into separate businesses. That plan was aimed at easing regulators’ concerns over potential conflicts of interest at the firm.
